Addressing early signs of damage and wear and tear will maximise the lifespan of your sail. Ratsey & Lapthorn recommend regular inspections. During your appointment, we create a one-time condition report where we review the sail in detail. From the integrity of the stitching to the seamlessness of the cloth, we look for any areas that require repair or strengthening. The time and cost vary depending on the size of the sail. Ensuring that your sails are fit for purpose provides longevity, and is also essential for safety at sea. We take pride in offering comprehensive sail repair and maintenance services, for all sails, not just those made in our loft. Our skilled team can undertake repairs, recuts, and other regular maintenance, such as replacing sacrificial UV strips. Repairs or alterations are costed on an hourly basis and we are very happy to provide estimates in advance.
We can securely store your sails in the loft in a controlled environment where they can be properly maintained in the run-up to the next sailing season.
Our team would be delighted to professionally launder your sails. Salt is removed and the sails undergo a deep clean. The washing process is rigorous and allows us to assess the health of the sail and any areas that need to be addressed.
